Ten Commandments of Networking
BY: BY STEWART R. MARSDEN
- Treat people with respect, courtesy, integrity, truth and honour
- Follow-up and follow through ... do what you say you will do ... and do it in a timely manner
- Pay attention to others ... by listening with your ears, eyes, head and heart
- Nurture your network .. Touch base often with calls, cards, clippings, faxes and e-mail; especially when you need nothing in return
- Treat people as people ..never as contacts for professional purposes
- "Good-Mouth" often ... honestly praise people and pass on the praise of others
- Thank those who have given you gifts ... their time, food, ideas, support, leads, laughter and love
- Perform good deeds often ... and reciprocate those deeds done on your behalf
- Be a person whom people want to be around ... have fun and be honestly kind, friendly and cheerful at all times
- Teach these ten commandments diligently ... By Your Example
