Ten Commandments of Networking

BY: BY STEWART R. MARSDEN

  1. Treat people with respect, courtesy, integrity, truth and honour
  2. Follow-up and follow through ... do what you say you will do ... and do it in a timely manner
  3. Pay attention to others ... by listening with your ears, eyes, head and heart
  4. Nurture your network .. Touch base often with calls, cards, clippings, faxes and e-mail; especially when you need nothing in return
  5. Treat people as people ..never as contacts for professional purposes
  6. "Good-Mouth" often ... honestly praise people and pass on the praise of others
  7. Thank those who have given you gifts ... their time, food, ideas, support, leads, laughter and love
  8. Perform good deeds often ... and reciprocate those deeds done on your behalf
  9. Be a person whom people want to be around ... have fun and be honestly kind, friendly and cheerful at all times
  10. Teach these ten commandments diligently ... By Your Example
